The Abyss
The mind is a sporadic, messy place. “The Abyss” presents its loose narrative in a way that mimics the way our minds work. Time and memory have a complex relationship with each other, a relationship that can be nonlinear. Memory can present time in a way that is sporadic and disjointed. When we ruminate on the past, our mind jumps from place to place. A memory from one point in time can trigger a memory from a completely different place in time, even if they only share the slightest association with each other. Yet, the way in which we recall our memories does not always align with the reality of what actually happened.
